Keto Food for Love!

On Valentine’s Day, it’s traditional to feed your lover aphrodisiacs, aka foods that will inflame their passions and put them in the mood for for love. You can’t eat some aphrodisiacs on the keto diet, like figs or honey — but if you’re planning a sexy meal for your sweetie, there are several great keto options.

Oysters

Oysters

They’re slippery, they look positively naughty, and once they’re out of their shell they slide right through your lips… and you can enjoy 6 of them with just 2g net carbs. Oysters also a great source of zinc, in case you need a little more to feel perky.

Avocado

Avocado

Yes, it’s true that the in Nahuatl, the language spoken by natives of central Mexico when the Spanish arrived, the word for avocado āhuacatl — also meant “testicles,” the same way that “nuts” is used in English today. Supposedly elderly French King Louis XIV gobbled avocados when his libido lagged. Avocados are also soft and creamy, and full of vitamins B6, B9, and folic acid to pep you up. They’re the most keto fruit (yes, fruit) on the planet, with just 5g net carbs per cup.

Chocolate

Chocolate

Do we need to say more? Keep your sweetie keto with one of these luscious sugar-free chocolate recipes.

Chilis

Chilis

Is it getting hot in here? Chili peppers look, ahem, manly, and they’ll make your palms sweat, your heart race, and inflame your lips — sounds like the beginning of a good night right there. Spice up your love life with a cup of canned green chilis for 4g net carbs, a dried ancho pepper, 5g net carbs, and a cup of raw serrano peppers, 3g net carbs.

Almonds

Almonds

The scent of almonds supposedly arouses passion in women. There isn’t much evidence for this, but they do smell good, they’re delicious, and they’re excellent keto snacks with just 3g net carbs per ounce.

Asparagus

Asparagus

Some foods seem to be aphrodisiacs just because they look like body parts. Erect asparagus — featured in the Kama Sutra — definitely falls into this category, and with less than 3g net carbs and 32 calories for 10 spears, they’re definitely keto-friendly.

Asparagus is also high in vitamin E — those 10 spears will give you about 10% of your recommended daily intake — which is supposed to increase blood flow to all your most enjoyable regions.

Okra

Okra

Yes, okra is yet another vegetable that looks like little phalluses… but if you cook it right, it has an intriguing slippery texture too. Okra is a great source of nutrients including zinc, folate, and iron to keep all your favorite body parts working smoothly, and has about 4g net carbs per cup.

Walnuts

Walnuts

Walnuts are supposed to inspire passion by looking like sexy lady parts, and there’s evidence that walnuts make men more fertile by improving sperm motility. They’re full of Omega 3s and have just 2 net carbs in an ounce. Nibble away!
